Great Giveaway

On 4th April between 6pm to 10:30pm (around 10:30) the greatgiveaway grants panel will be holding a celebration evening which aims to congratulate all those young people who since the start of the Great giveaway project has benefitted from the projects they have undertaken.

It will also give the young people a chance to join the panel. It has been an exciting year for all of us and we feel its time to give other people a chance to get involved!

For anyone out there who is a member of SCVYS or a statutory youth group who do not receive funding apart from for workers then this blog is for your attention!!!

The Great Giveaway Grant panel has decided to offer you another chance to get some money from the grant scheme. Application forms are available from SCVYS office on 01785 240378 and new guidance notes should be available very soon.

The new closing date for applications will be January 31st 2007. All applications received will be reviewed on the 4th February 2007. So as usual a very quick turnaround...

Yesterday (29/10/06) the Great Giveaway grants panel succesfully had a secound round of Grant applications and gave away over £10,000.

Although we recently gained a extra £10,000 from a grant this meant that we had in total over £20,000, its for this reason that its being considered to have a secound round this year.

We would like to thank all applicants succesful or not for applying and hope that you will continue to do so, we will be contacting all applicants to inform them of the result.

This year the Greatgiveaway grants panel has £11,000 to giveaway to volutary youths groups in Staffordshire.

The allocation of the money will decided on 29th October 2006

To be sucesful download an application form and sent it to SCVYS in plenty of time for it to be accepted in the application process.

On 30th May to 1st June the great giveaway grants panel will be taking part in a residential, where all the members will gain thier act by right award which we have all being working towards since the start of the project. We will then be starting a different award, which we dont know what will be yet, which will include our new memebers which will be choosen on this residential.

The grant panel members have completed task such as promoting the grant panel etc, we have taken part in this as a grant panel because we want our members to benifit from the experience as much as the applicants.

Following the last meeting (12/3/06), the group have decided to run another residential. This time the venue will be Coalbrookdale Youth Hostel in Telford, Shropshire (Tuesday 30th May 2006 until Thursday 1st June 2006).
The aim of this residential will be to evaluate what's happened with the project so far and create the timeline for next year.

The other major aim of the residential is to invite new members to come along and take part in making the decisions on who gets funding in the next round.
